Plans, usage & limits

The questions readers ask when a screen refuses something, or when a figure does not match what they expected: what is counted, what happens at the limit, and how plan changes, renewals and invoices behave. The steps themselves stay in Plans & billing and Invoices.

What is a token, and what is counted?

A token is the unit your usage is counted in. Every reasoning consumes tokens for what you send to the model and for what comes back, and the total is charged against the allowance included in your plan for the current cycle. The Tokens column on a reasoning shows that run's own usage.

When does my allowance reset?

At the end of the current cycle, which is a rolling month anchored to the day your plan was activated — not the first of the calendar month. A plan activated on the 22nd resets on the 22nd of each month. Your dashboard's Plan usage card shows the exact date under Reset on.

Note — This is the most common reason a figure you added up yourself disagrees with the gauge: adding up "this month" on the consumption page covers a different window than the cycle the gauge measures. On the rare project with no recorded plan activation date, the cycle falls back to the calendar month.

Does a failed reasoning use up my allowance?

No. A reasoning that ends in Error consumes nothing, so it is excluded from the gauge and from the token chart on the consumption page. It still counts in the Reasonings total there, because that total counts every run you launched whatever its outcome — which is the second reason your own arithmetic can disagree with the gauge. Switch the consumption page to Tokens to compare like with like. See Usage & consumption.

Why does the create-application screen say Creation unavailable?

Because your plan does not allow another application in this project. The message underneath either counts what you already use against what your plan allows — This project already uses … applications allowed by your subscription. — or reads Your current subscription does not include creating custom applications for this project., with a View plans button. Building an app is covered by Building an app.

What happens when my monthly allowance runs out?

Sending a reasoning stops working: instead of running, the screen takes you straight to the Buy or upgrade screen, and a notice is e-mailed to you once for the cycle. Before that point the dashboard warns you with Number of remaining reasonings is about to be exhausted. and then Reasoning quota exhausted.

How do I get more allowance before the monthly reset?

Two ways, both on the Buy or upgrade screen: Upgrade the plan, which raises your included monthly usage immediately, or Buy quotas, a one-off pack described as One-off top-up (no monthly reset) and Deducted after the included monthly usage.

Why is there no Buy quotas option on my screen?

One-off packs are sold on the top plan only. Below it the screen is headed Upgrade your plan and offers the plan change; on the top plan it is headed Buy or downgrade and the Buy quotas card appears next to it.

Why is a model greyed out, or refused when I run?

Power levels above your plan are not selectable and are labelled Available on followed by the plan that includes them — see Choosing a model and The model catalog. If an application already uses such a model, running it answers This model is not compatible with your plan. Please subscribe to a higher-tier plan and try again.

Is a plan change immediate?

Moving up is: Move to a higher plan to increase your included monthly usage; the change is immediate. You pay only the difference for the time left in the current cycle, and the full price applies at your next renewal.

And if I move down to Free?

That one is deferred: the option is Switch to a smaller plan, marked Takes effect at the end of your current cycle, and nothing is charged. Your paid plan keeps working until then, and the billing Overview shows Downgrade to Free scheduled on with the date.

How do I stop automatic renewal?

Click Revoke in the Billing account card of the billing Overview. The confirmation states Automatic renewal stops at the end of the current cycle. The plan stays active until then, and no further charge is made.

Why does my consumption only show the last 30 days?

Because that is the default range, not a limit. Click the date range at the top of the consumption page to pick your own start and end dates — up to about thirteen months at a time — then click Apply; the Last 30 days preset brings you back. See Usage & consumption.

Why is one of my invoices missing, or has no download button?

An invoice exists only for a payment that was actually taken, so a project that has never paid shows No invoices yet. A row that carries no invoice number has no file to serve either, so its Invoice download button is not shown.

Why does an invoice show my old billing address?

Because the invoice is built from your project's current billing details each time you open it, not from a copy frozen at payment time. Update Billing information and open the invoice again — the new Bill to block appears on the spot.

My payment did not go through — what happened?

The message on the screen tells you which case you are in. The payment was cancelled. You have not been charged. means you left the payment page: nothing was ordered and nothing changed. The payment could not be completed. Please try again. means the payment itself failed, so start the order again. The steps are in Plans & billing.

Note — If Order is greyed out with No payment method is configured. Please add a payment method before placing an order., no payment was attempted at all: the project has no payment method yet, so ask an administrator to add one.
